I recently was invited to attend an event in Texas where Governor Abbott spoke on the border crisis and Operation Lone Star, which he launched in 2021. He deployed the Texas National Guard and Department of Public Safety to the state’s southern border. His mission included detecting and preventing illegal immigrants from crossing into our country, arresting human smugglers and intercepting dangerous drugs.
Governor Abbott has criticized President Biden and his administration for their reckless open border policies and failing to enforce existing immigration laws. Furthermore, Abbott has cited a constitutional provision that allows him to secure the border by any means necessary to protect Texas from an invasion of illegal migrants.
In Nevada, Governor Joe Lombardo has stated his support for the Texas Governor, including the ongoing dispute with the Biden Administration over this issue. At press time, 25 Republican governors have released a joint statement stating, “Texas has every legal justification to protect the sovereignty of our states and our nation.” They affirmed their solidarity with Abbot and the state of Texas and advocated for the use of “tools and strategies” including razor wire fences to secure the border.
Despite not being directly on the border with Mexico, Nevada still encounters various issues related to the border crisis. Among those issues, and the biggest threat to our nation, are the terrorists coming in through the border. If you can’t see that, you’re being fooled. Our current President, and his cronies, by letting this continue are setting the stage for future attacks right here at home. The question isn’t whether it will happen, but rather when it will happen.
Lax border security also makes it easier for illegal activities to thrive, including drug and human trafficking. This influx of criminal activity leads to higher crime rates and puts a significant strain on local law enforcement agencies. Ultimately, the cost of these crimes is borne by all of us through higher taxes or, we may pay the price more directly, by becoming victims ourselves.
You have to ask – why isn’t Biden enforcing the laws? The most obvious reason is to pack voter boxes and affect elections. As this administration entitles illegal immigrants and ultimately gives them the ability to vote, through fair means or foul, it takes power from legal citizens. This could lead to a one party system and strays us far from our founding principles.
Let’s be clear, legal immigrants greatly benefit our economy. I recognize the positive impact immigrants have on our nation, but immigration should be done through legal channels. One of the most memorable experiences I’ve had was witnessing the pride and joy of new citizens at their naturalization ceremony. It is incredibly moving and everyone should experience the educational journey these new citizens go through to truly understand what it means to be American. On the other hand, we have undocumented workers competing with locals, including legal immigrants, for jobs which potentially drives down wages and makes it harder to find employment.
Escalating terror threats, vote packing and increasing criminal activity, not to mention the damage to our physical and natural resources, are all results of this influx of illegal immigration that has gone unchecked for too long. The border states, like Texas, bear the brunt of this burden, but it affects all of us.
Call to Action: The escalating political and social rifts within our state and nation are unmistakable and alarming. It’s time for us to unite on this critical issue. I implore you, let’s take a stand together. Reach out to your representatives in Congress and the Senate, and make your voices heard. Demand immediate action to address the border crisis. Insist that they press the President to enforce the existing border laws. We must all awaken and act now.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
