We’re told digital identity is the future – fast, efficient and secure. Yet behind that polished promise lies a chilling new reality: existing pilot programs could tie digital IDs to carbon-footprint tracking, linking who you are to how you live, spend and consume. It’s surveillance disguised as sustainability or security. The truth is, it is control masquerading as progress. From a Judeo-Christian, conservative and constitutional perspective, this is not innovation … it’s a death trap that must be stopped dead in its tracks. On this, there can be no negotiation, no retreat and no surrender.
Scripture tells us to be alert to systems that seek absolute control over human life and commerce. In Revelation we read of a “mark” without which no one can buy or sell. It is a chilling prophecy that warns of the moment when mankind surrenders freedom to earthly spiritual power and, in doing so, sells its own soul. Today’s digital IDs may not be that literal mark, but they are laying the groundwork for it. When the right to work, trade or participate in society depends on a government-issued credential, freedom ceases to be a God-given right and becomes a revocable privilege. Acts 5:29 still echoes today: “We must obey God rather than men.”
Even for those who view this only through the lens of liberty, the dangers are clear. Every new digital ID proposal expands surveillance, erodes privacy and invites coercion. What begins as voluntary almost always becomes mandatory. No ID, no access, no exceptions. Switzerland’s narrow 50.4 percent approval of its new e-ID program already divides the nation, while Britain’s “BritCard,” pushed as a mandatory requirement by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, threatens to bar citizens from employment without digital compliance. Once these systems are embedded, reversing them becomes nearly impossible.
Here at home, similar efforts are quietly advancing. Federal task forces tied to digital assets and cybersecurity are building frameworks to link personal identity with banking, healthcare and online access. Bills before Congress, and supported by global organizations like ID2020, would normalize these “identity credentials” nationwide. It’s marketed as modernization, but what it really delivers is central control over every citizen’s life.
From a Judeo-Christian viewpoint, this battle reaches beyond politics. We are created in God’s image, endowed with free will, conscience and dignity. To condition our existence on a government-controlled digital tag insults that Divine design. The prophets warned repeatedly of rulers who exalt themselves and demand allegiance that belongs only to God. Digital IDs are simply a modern attempt to bind the human spirit in the name of security.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has repeatedly argued, and history confirms, three blunt truths about expanding state power: the powers governments assume are seldom relinquished voluntarily. Once acquired those powers are liable to be abused to their fullest extent. And passive compliance has never been a successful path out of totalitarian rule. These are not abstract ideas; they are lessons of history. Whenever people surrender liberty for convenience, they forfeit both.
CALL TO ACTION: Now is the time for action, not silence. We must speak boldly in our churches, communities, statehouses and in the halls of congress. Demand that digital IDs remain strictly off the table. Form coalitions of pastors, business owners, political leaders and constitutional advocates to resist. Let every elected official, from Carson City to Washington, hear it plainly: Nevadans, and freedom-loving Americans everywhere, will not trade Divine liberty for digital bondage, nor bow to the hell that follows its path.
We serve the One who grants freedom, not the system that seeks to steal it.
(Not convinced? Dig into Digital IDs yourself… but do it now, while truth is still free and liberty still belongs to you.)
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
