“Again and again God calls upon us to demonstrate that we believe all we have is a gift of His grace. If you believe this, then giving becomes easy, for God’s resources are unlimited. Most are so afraid of poverty that they refuse to risk anything beyond that which they feel they can afford. When the Savior calls upon His children to risk all, they obey.” Walter A. Henrichsen (“Walt H”)
——:///// Thoughts from the Diary of a Desperate Man by Walter Henrichsen “…you moved me against him, to destroy him without cause.” Job 2:3 God destroyed Job, and He said that it was not due to any defect in the life of His servant. Satan, the wind, Chaldeans, and Sabeans were instruments in the Hand of God to accomplish His will. Their access to Job was monitored and proscribed by God. Job was brutalized, but what about the servants of Job who lost their lives caring for his livestock? These were the husbands, sons, and fathers of lives devastated by their loss. They appear as mere pawns, expendable in the game of chess played between God and Satan. John 9 records the encounter of Jesus and His disciples with the blind man. The disciples asked, ‘Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind.” Jesus gave a startling reply: “Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.”18 Do you mean that God created him blind so that in this one brief moment Jesus could heal him, and in the process show the world how great He is? Consider the incident of Peter’s arrest in Acts 12. Herod incarcerates him with four sets of four soldiers guarding him. When the angel miraculously frees Peter, Herod kills at least four of the soldiers for dereliction of duty. As in the case of Job, these are four innocent men who leave behind orphans and widows. Why didn’t God set Peter free while in the presence of Herod so that none would have to die? Scripture gives no answer to these questions. God never explained to Job why he had to suffer. Any attempt to give an explanation is at best conjecture, and at worst an unwillingness to walk by faith. The totality of God’s Word asserts that no one will slip into eternity {whether it be heaven or hell) and look back regretting the circumstances of their lives. The only thing they will regret is their own sin and unbelief. God is a debtor to no man. 18 John 9:2-3 ———/:///// Genesis 31-32 Matthew 9:18-38 (New King James Version) Genesis 31-32 Matthew 9:18-38 |
