“So important is walking by faith to our Lord, that you will find Him often placing you in a position where you are forced to believe. You will find such times uncomfortable, but these are the moments when you learn to trust God.” Walter A. Henrichsen (“Walt H”)
——:///// Thoughts from the Diary of a Desperate Man by Walter A Henrichsen (“Walt”) “Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron.” 1 Timothy 4:2 The conscience can be damaged by not properly responding to it. If a person persists in violating his conscience, it will grow decrepit, bother him less and less, become less effective, and may soon cease to deter him at all. A person lies and his conscience condemns him. The Holy Spirit urges him to make it right. He ignores both his conscience and the Holy Spirit. Finally his mind forgets the incident and his conscience is damaged. This is the process by which people live hypocritical lives of self-deception. Occasionally you will catch something in the peripheral vision of your conscience. You know that you should look at it, but something inside says that if you do you will have to make some changes, and the price of change is too high. So you refuse to turn and look at it face on, and instead think about something else. Your refusal to deal with it indicates that your conscience is in the process of becoming damaged. Maybe the Holy Spirit will force you to look at it again in the future, and maybe not. But each time you ignore His prompting you desensitize your conscience, making it a little bit harder to respond biblically the next time. ———/:///// Jeremiah 3-5 1 Timothy 4 (New King James Version) Jeremiah 3-5 1 Timothy 4 |
