“God will never do for you what you can do for yourself. What can be done by man will not be done by Christ; Jesus never worked needless miracles. The miraculous only begins where ordinary means can go no further. ” Walter A. Henrichsen (“Walt H”)
——:///// Thoughts from the Diary of a Desperate Man by Walter A Henrichsen (“Walt”) “That He would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man.” Ephesians 3:16 Your God-given purpose for living in this life is to prepare you for an eternity with Him. This means that God is in the process of preparing you through sanctification. In the Christian life sanctification is a process, not a product. There are three kinds of progress you can make in your walk with Him. Progress that is measurable, including your understanding of the Bible, doctrine, and the development of certain skills. You can take a course in a number of subjects, be tested on it, and know how you did. Then there is progress that is discernable but not measurable, including such things as manifesting the fruit of the Spirit. You can discern or evaluate progress in love, patience, faith, kindness, etc., but you cannot measure such things. Finally there is progress that is neither measurable nor discemable. Steve, a man in his sixties, had an incurable disease that gave him unrelenting, excruciating pain for the last thirty years of his life. Steve was a follower of Christ and saw no measurable or discernable progress in his walk with the Lord. Of the three, most would agree that the last is the most difficult. If God calls you to live such as Steve, remember that sin may produce a lack of progress in your life, but circumstances never can. Sin is self-induced; circumstances are God induced, and are part of the process of sanctification. This third is very significant because it requires the greatest faith. ———/:///// Jeremiah 18-19 2 Timothy 3 (New King James Version) Jeremiah 18-19 2 Timothy 3 |
