“God asks that you steward your most precious resource, time, so that you live wisely in light of eternity.” Walter Henrichsen
——:///// Thoughts from the Diary of a Desperate Man by Walter Henrichsen “I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the Lord.” Zephaniah 1:2 The central message of Zephaniah is that the fire of God’s wrath will burn up a world gone wrong. But the prophet’s message does not end in gloom. The end goal at which judgment is aimed is the establishment of divine righteousness upon the earth, in which the people of God will participate. Judgment of the world precedes the new heaven and earth. It is only through judgment that the sinful world can be renewed and glorified. Salvation comes through judgment. Salvation implies a need for forgiveness; men are sinners and in need of being saved. In the economy of God, you cannot have forgiveness without justice and you cannot have justice without judgment. God’s burning wrath against the sin of God’s children was transferred to His crucified Son. In the cross you see the judgment of God. Not only is it true that God will bring the world to judgment, He must bring it to judgment. “He cannot deny Himself.'”421 Someplace at some time, someone must pay the penalty for sin. Without it salvation is impossible. Rejoice in the judgment of God. If He were not consistent with Himself, then the presence of sin would be eternally perpetual, and you could have no security in your relationship with Him. The fact that He must be true to Himself makes heaven possible and ensures acceptance by God for all that are cleansed by the Blood of Christ. 421 II Timothy 2:13 ———/:///// Ezekiel 37-39 2 Peter 2 (New King James Version) Ezekiel 37-39 2 Peter 2 |
