“…Although many see tribulation as an indication that God has forsaken them, in reality it is the grace of God in disguise. … Blessed are the troubled who allow their tribulation to soften their heart to repentance. … Christianity is a religion of rescue. It is designed for the desperate.” Walter A. Henrichsen (“Walt H”)
——:///// Thoughts from the Diary of a Desperate Man by Walter Henrichsen “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12 However long you live, your days upon earth will be few. A common testimony among the old is how swiftly the years fly away. Thus Moses encourages us to “number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” You must be diligent to carefully steward the precious time God gives you. Like any other resource, if you do not plan your time it will evaporate without your being able to account for it. Your sense of mortality determines your view of reality. To the degree that you understand the brevity of your life you will seek to avoid what one person called “the tyranny of the urgent,” giving yourself instead to those opportunities that best define your purpose. You of course do not know how many days you have on earth, but if you apply your heart to the wisdom of God, that will not matter, for the Lord will not evaluate your life on the basis of what you produce. Rather, He will judge you based on the degree to which you lived your life sharing His values. If you accept His values as your own, you have no time to waste on those ingredients the world says are the measures of success. You dissipate your time and energy when you pursue any objective not affirmed by the Lord. The wise heart understands both the shortness of life and those ingredients that go into investing life properly. “And of the sons of lssachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do.” 451 451 I Chronicles 12:32 ———/:///// Jonah 1-4 Revelation 10 (New King James Version) Jonah 1-4 Revelation 10 |
