“Trials are to see if you believe what you say you believe.” Tony Evans
———/:///// Thoughts from the Diary of a Desperate Man by Walter A Henrichsen (“Walt”) “Thus says the Lord God: It is not for your sake, 0 house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name…” Ezekiel 36:22 When God acts, He always does it in accordance with His glory and purpose. Again and again He reminds us that He is a jealous God, sharing His glory with no others. “Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his wi11.” 175 God did not create you for your good pleasure, but for His own good pleasure according to His will. The Psalmist testifies, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”176 All that God creates and does has as its objective to call attention to His greatness. The Lord is both gracious and generous, but He will share His glory with no one. You may be tempted to pray, “Lord, I believe that it is in my interest to have this particular desire, and I know that you want me to be happy. You said that I can ask anything and you will give it to me. Therefore if I don’t obtain my desire it must be due to Satan hindering Your will and I pray that You will overcome him so that You can give to me what I want.” But such a prayer is unbiblical, for it ignores His glory. Your happiness and His will for your life will always be within the parameter of what brings glory to His name. 175 Ephesians 1:5 ———/:///// 1 Samuel 27-29 Luke 13:1-22 (New King James Version) David Allied with the Philistines Luke 13:1-22 |
