“Abiding (in Jesus) requires a kind of staying power. The pursuit is relentless. It hungers and thirsts. It pants as the deer after the mountain brook. It takes the kingdom by storm…The pursuit of God is a pursuit of passion. Indifference will not do. To abide in the Word is to hang on tenaciously. A weak grip will soon slip away.” R C Sproul
———/:///// Thoughts from the Diary of a Desperate Man by Walter A Henrichsen (“Walt”) “And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done according to thy words.” 1 Kings 3:11-12 Most people place a premium on long life, personal wealth, and the elimination of their enemies. You can approach these desires in one or more of three ways: You can seek to obtain them by your own craft and strength, you can ask God to give them to you, or you can set them aside and trust God to determine the amount of each of them that He deems best for you. Solomon took the last course of action, and it pleased God. Solomon asked God for “an understanding heart to judge Thy people, that I may discern between good and bad,”208 reflecting an attitude of humble dependence. God granted him his wish, plus adding those things he didn’t ask for. Note that even though “Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father,”209 he nevertheless “took Pharaoh’s daughter”210 as wife and “sacrificed and burnt incense in high places,”211 practices which God prohibited. Thus God cautioned Solomon when giving him his request, “walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as thy father David did.”212 God loved and honored the attitude of humble dependence expressed by Solomon, but warned him that it was no substitute for a life of obedience. Solomon ignored God’s warning, modifying those commands that he deemed inappropriate for ruling his kingdom, and suffered the consequences. Nothing in your relationship with God can make up for your failure to carefully obey all of His commandments. 208 I Kings 3:9 ———/:///// 2 Kings 22-23 John 4:31-54 (New King James Version) 2 Kings 22-23 John 4:31-54 +++ The Best of David Wilkerson 1) David Wilkerson: “It Will Cost You Everything.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JQOBMi4QS8 2) David Wilkerson: “A Call To Anguish.”(Extended) 11min. 51 sec. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcUh2xLmJy4 3) David Wilkerson: Exposes Television / The Angel with a Strong Voice 11min. 51 sec. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4Fn0yMSwQc
