Sin’s Penalty – Hebrews 9:27 (ESV) “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,” Hebrews 9:27
“Becoming a Christian is free of charge. It costs the believer absolutely nothing: “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Eph. 2: 8–9). But there is a cost attached to becoming a disciple. The cost is to become involved in God’s “thing” rather than our own. How easy it is for the Christian to become preoccupied with his dreams, his aspirations, his own little deal, and miss God’s perfect plan for his life.” Walter A. Henrichsen (“Walt”)

We Faint Not
Day Two Hundred Sixty-five
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
2 Corinthians 4:3-4
The ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ involves a spiritual battle in which the evangelist is nothing more than an ambassador. Whether a person responds negatively to the “glorious gospel of Christ,” or whether he believes and is given new life, the battle is fought on a spiritual plane outside the control of the messenger.
Why do some people reject the gospel? Satan has blinded their minds so they cannot see. Why do other people accept the gospel? “God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in their hearts, to ive the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”348. For this reason “we faint not.”349 Paul faced persistent opposition and rejection throughout his ministry. He stayed in the battle, refusing to quit, because he knew that in the final analysis the struggle did not involve him personally.
You can easily misunderstand your task as a witness for Christ and take it personally when people reject your message. Conversely, you think too highly of yourself if you take pride in your ability to win others to Christ. In either case you fail to grasp that you are limited to merely sharing the good news. Beyond that point it becomes a spiritual struggle over which you have no control. Once you assimilate the significance of this you will not be timid in sharing the gospel nor lose heart when people reject the message.
You do not preach for temporal gain. In sales, you only get credit for what you sell. With the gospel, you get credit for proclaiming the gospel, irrespective of the response. For these reasons “we faint not.”
348 II Corinthians 4:6
349 cf. II Corinthians 4:1, 16

Ecclesiastes 10-12 Galatians 1 (New King James Version)
Wisdom and Folly
Dead[a] flies [b]putrefy the perfumer’s ointment,
And cause it to give off a foul odor;
So doesa little folly to one respected for wisdom andhonor.
A wise man’s heart isat his right hand,
But a fool’s heart at his left.
Even when a fool walks along the way,
He lacks wisdom,
And he shows everyone thathe isa fool.
If the spirit of the ruler rises against you,
Do not leave your post;
For conciliation[c] pacifies great offenses.
There is an evil I have seen under the sun,
As an error proceeding from the ruler:
Folly is set in [d]great dignity,
While the rich sit in a lowly place.
I have seen servants on horses,
While princes walk on the ground like servants.
He who digs a pit will fall into it,
And whoever breaks through a wall will be bitten by a serpent.
He who quarries stones may be hurt by them,
Andhe who splits wood may be endangered by it.
If the ax is dull,
And one does not sharpen the edge,
Then he must use more strength;
But wisdom [e]brings success.
A serpent may bite when it isnot charmed;
The [f]babbler is no different.
The words of a wise man’s mouth aregracious,
But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up;
The words of his mouth begin with foolishness,
And the end of his talk israving madness.
A fool also multiplies words.
No man knows what is to be;
Who can tell him what will be after him?
The labor of fools wearies them,
For they do not even know how to go to the city!
Woe to you, O land, when your king isa child,
And your princes feast in the morning!
Blessed areyou, O land, when your king isthe son of nobles,
And your princes feast at the proper time—
For strength and not for drunkenness!
Because of laziness the [g]building decays,
And through idleness of hands the house leaks.
A feast is made for laughter,
And wine makes merry;
But money answers everything.
Do not curse the king, even in your thought;
Do not curse the rich, even in your bedroom;
For a bird of the air may carry your voice,
And a bird in flight may tell the matter.
The Value of Diligence
Cast your bread upon the waters,
For you will find it after many days.
Give a serving to seven, and also to eight,
For you do not know what evil will be on the earth.
If the clouds are full of rain,
They empty themselvesupon the earth;
And if a tree falls to the south or the north,
In the place where the tree falls, there it shall lie.
He who observes the wind will not sow,
And he who regards the clouds will not reap.
As you do not know what isthe way of the [h]wind,
Orhow the bones growin the womb of her who is with child,
So you do not know the works of God who makes everything.
In the morning sow your seed,
And in the evening do not withhold your hand;
For you do not know which will prosper,
Either this or that,
Or whether both alike will begood.
Truly the light is sweet,
And it ispleasant for the eyes to behold the sun;
But if a man lives many years
Andrejoices in them all,
Yet let him remember the days of darkness,
For they will be many.
All that is coming isvanity.
Seek God in Early Life
Rejoice, O young man, in your youth,
And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth;
Walk in the [i]ways of your heart,
And [j]in the sight of your eyes;
But know that for all these
God will bring you into judgment.
Therefore remove [k]sorrow from your heart,
And put away evil from your flesh,
For childhood and [l]youth arevanity.
Seek God in Early Life
Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth,
Before the [m]difficult days come,
And the years draw near when you say,
“I have no pleasure in them”:
While the sun and the light,
The moon and the stars,
Are not darkened,
And the clouds do not return after the rain;
In the day when the keepers of the house tremble,
And the strong men bow down;
When the grinders cease because they are few,
And those that look through the windows grow dim;
When the doors are shut in the streets,
And the sound of grinding is low;
When one rises up at the sound of a bird,
And all the daughters of music are brought low.
Also they are afraid of height,
And of terrors in the way;
When the almond tree blossoms,
The grasshopper is a burden,
And desire fails.
For man goes to his eternal home,
And the mourners go about the streets.
Remember your Creatorbefore the silver cord is [n]loosed,
Or the golden bowl is broken,
Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain,
Or the wheel broken at the well.
Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God who gave it.
“Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher,
The Whole Duty of Man
9 And moreover, because the Preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he pondered and sought out andset[o] in order many proverbs. 10 The Preacher sought to find [p]acceptable words; and what waswritten wasupright—words of truth. 11 The words of the wise are like goads, and the words of [q]scholars are like well-driven nails, given by one Shepherd. 12 And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there isno end, and much study iswearisome to the flesh.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.
For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.

1 Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead), 2 and all the brethren who are with me,
To the churches of Galatia:
3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom beglory forever and ever. Amen.
Only One Gospel
6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert[a] the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be [b]accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
Call to Apostleship
11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it,but it camethrough the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13 For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried todestroy it. 14 And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called methrough His grace, 16 to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who wereapostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.
Contacts at Jerusalem
18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see [c]Peter, and remained with him fifteen days. 19 But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord’s brother. 20 (Now concerningthe things which I write to you, indeed, before God, I do not lie.)
21 Afterward I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia. 22 And I was unknown by face to the churches of Judea which werein Christ. 23 But they were hearing only, “He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried todestroy.” 24 And they glorified God in me.
